Decades ago, it all started with a short introduction day to get familiar with the study you chose and to get to know some fellow students.
Now the Eurekaweek is the biggest university introduction week of the Netherlands. For over 9 months, 9 board members are fulltime committed to setting up a week for 4000 participants in which they get to know the city of Rotterdam, student life, and the Erasmus University in the best way possible. Together with over 500 guides, 100 volunteers, and dozens of other parties, the Eurekaweek board is working on a week filled with wonderful first experiences for her participants in their new life as a student. Together they work on one shared goal: to organize an unforgettable week for new EUR students.
Whether you come from Rotterdam or from across the Dutch borders, the Eurekaweek is for everyone. In one week beautiful friendships are formed and new adventures are experienced that will exist for many years.
Organisation of the Eurekaweek
To make the Eurekaweek a success, every year a team of senior students is appointed as an employee of Erasmus University Rotterdam: the Eurekaweek board. They are responsible for all aspects of organising the Eurekaweek. This entails for example compiling the programme, applying for permits, classifying the groups, making the program booklet and collaborating with Erasmus University and the Municipality of Rotterdam. They start this project in January and work through the entire summer to make the Eurekaweek a big success.
